Students from teh PG  Integrated Humans Studies course from Perth initiated a discussion forum with local guests.  The focus for the forum was " Albany -  A Regional Community Responding to the Challenges of the 21st Century".</p>
<p>Guest speakers included the CEO from the City of Albany, coordinator of Transition Towns (Albany), coordinator for Committee for Albany and researcher from the Centre for Excellence in NRM (Albany).  The speakers spoke about how they engage with and support  the local community in responding to the kinds of global challenges as outlined by James Martin (2007), The Meaning of the 21st Century: A Vital Blueprint for Survival <a href="http://www.jamesmartin.com/book/megaproblems.cfm" rel="nofollow">http://www.jamesmartin.com/book/megaproblems.cfm</a> </p>
<p>Speakers provided insightful views about developing engagment in local governance, biodiversity projects, community connection and the value of coordinated efforts in influencing political action.</p>
