Global risks are recognized as being complexly interconnected, yet the scientific approaches used to study them, and consequently our understandings, remain fragmented.

Considering the social sciences, Victor Galaz worries:

“…knowledge is becoming so specialized and fragmented, that I sincerely fear it is losing touch with the risks posed by the interacting environmental and socio-technological unfolding around us.”
