Author(s): Anand Varma

Anand Varma was asked to photograph the compelling, and increasingly threatened, lives of bees. Varma worked with UC Davis to capture the first 21 days of a bee’s life, when they are most susceptible, on film.

In this TED talk, Varma shares the images from this process and also explains the primary threats facing bees and our relationship with them.

Varma states that understanding the biology of bees and the potential stressors they face requires an up-close familiarity that this project provides.
