‘Tragedy of Scale’ strikes again? Australia’s coal development

On Wednesday October 14th, Australia’s environment minister Greg Hunt announced approval of the controversial Carmichael coal mine.

Back in August, Graham H. Pyke with UTS Sustainability Central shared how Australia’s local coal development and the threats facing the Great Barrier Reef embody the all too common hurdle created by a ‘tragedy of scale’.
