Urgent call for continued protection of Bears Ears National Monument

| December 5, 2017 | Leave a Comment

Dear Colleagues,

I write to ask you to join me in an urgent call for the continued protection of Bears Ears National Monument.

President Trump, Interior Secretary Zinke, and Agriculture Secretary Perdue announced a reduction in size and protection for the monument on Dec 4. The attached letter calls for a reversal of the decision, and supports the language in the presidential proclamation of Dec. 28, 2016 that established Bears Ears National Monument.

Please read the attached letter, and if you wish to sign, please add your name and information directly to the Google sheet found here.

I compiled all signatures received by midnight, Monday Dec 4. I will send digital and paper copies to President Trump and Secretaries Zinke and Purdue soon. Over the next month, I will continue to add names to the letter, a copy of which will reside on a public web site (the URL is forthcoming).

Thank you very much for your help during this short initial turn-around period. Know that your signature will be valuable, even if received after initial release of the letter. And please feel free to forward this message to colleagues who you think would be interested in signing.

Sincerely, Tom Sisk
