Shinrin yoku – or Forest Bathing – is a modern approach to the ancient Japanese art of connecting with nature through our senses. When we approach nature, we slow down, and we pay close attention to what we are noticing. It’s active mindfulness.
Current research reveals it has remarkable benefits for both mind and body. It’s rapidly becoming popular worldwide as a powerful way to reduce stress, improve our wellbeing, and rediscover our relationship with the natural world.
Best of all, it’s lots of fun!
We don’t need a forest, or a woodland, or even a tree! Forest Bathing helps us immerse ourselves in the magic of nature, wherever we are. That could be as simple as noticing and appreciating the sky as we wait at a bus stop. Nature is everywhere when our eyes are open to see, and Forest Bathing is a practice that helps us become more delightfully aware of it.
“This is one of the most fabulous courses I have ever done. If you love nature then this is for you. It really opens your eyes to what is around us, using all of our senses. Highly recommend.” – Susan 2021
