As with many other parts of the 2016 US Presidential Election season, broad sweeping generalizations are being used in painting portions of the American public as “red” or “blue”. More so than in past campaigns these color-codes reflect more than political affiliations and native Kansan Sarah Smarsh urges journalists to more critically examine the narratives they are spinning around the question of who is supporting each candidate.
