Legal scholar and ethicist Carter Dillard elegantly argues why the act of having children is interpersonal rather than personal and shares his vision for a just and sustainable society in which each child is brought into this world in a manner that ensures they have an ecologically and socially fair start in life.

His model seeks to replace the dysfunctional parent-focused model created by governments to ensure population growth and evade collective responsibility to invest in kids. He discusses why the right to have children must be balanced with the obligations towards these children, as well as to the rest of the living world – both current and future.
