Is it a gigantic task? Of course it is. Is it essential to do it? Undoubtedly. The wonderful and inspiring actions taken for decades by environmental and social activists have shown us the way to build a sustainable planet. But all that effort runs the risk of being lost in the end, if we don’t have clarity on the final goal we want to reach. Having a sustainable world requires getting rid of many ancestral beliefs and practices (some of them very well-intentioned but inadequate), through a worldwide scientific, political and educational work that could begin with the elaboration of a virtual model of an ideal sustainable society.
