THIS WEEK:

Join for a discussion to explore maps in nature; maps in a political, cultural, historical context; and to consider how maps are used to navigate near and far off futures. christopher losa recently returned from time in the Sonoran as a consulting artist to Arizona State University’s Desert Humanities Initiative. while there he spent deep time in the Superstition Mountains with a phenomenologist and a cartographer, giving him a perspective on maps and mapping that are inspiring a series of developing sculpture/collage/paint works.

christopher losa works under the moniker coalesce because the word aptly captures the ways in which he has succeeded and failed and continues to pursue life: experiencing existence through a myriad of lenses, disciplines, and facets. he is a self-taught artist who fully discovered his intents as an artist through collaboration with some amazing teachers, guides, and mentors who taught him to strip away the noise and be guided by a clear view of self discovery. he lives and works on the edge of a redwood grove in what is presently known as Sonoma County, California to hone his craft, continue learning, and contribute to amplifying the voice of the environment, of cultures, of ways of life struggling to survive under the weight of 8 billion people.
