Create a self sustaining village, using mostly existing, pre-industrial technologies, and skilled craftspeople, farmers, doctors, artists, etc. If successful, it can outcompete global economy for the hearts and minds of people, because it can satisfy basic needs that are currently not well satisfied in global economy, and that are paramount to happiness (see J. Haidt’s research), such as nature connection, good work, and strong community. Commitment to both producing for the village and providing a market to other in-village producers is essential. Also initial funding to find people, and support them while infrastructure is built. Once even one such village is built, it can reproduce and take over since it will have a selective advantage. Environmental sustainability will be a side effect, because feedbacks between costs and benefits will be strong and local, unlike current economy (which rewards externalization to others, and future)..
