As federal policies and actions fall behind, and in many cases reverse course, in the U.S. some tribal, state, regional and local governments are stepping up. Subnational action is not limited to mitigating climate change. Safer States, a network of diverse environmental health coalitions and organizations has been tracking and pushing for subnational action to regulate toxic chemicals.
